Introduction
The Category Manager: WCellar is responsible for leading the coordination of the end-to-end category strategy by inspiring the team to co-create and execute long-term plans that ensure sustainable profit growth and operational excellence.

Interpret and translate the overall strategy into commercially viable operating plans to ensure the delivery of operational excellence.

Lead the co-creation of category strategies by gathering input from cross-functional teams.

Analyze market reports to identify new opportunities and assess viability.

Establish long-term objectives across commercial, customer, and supplier strategies.

Integrate and align category assessments with the WCellar strategy, creating and delivering 3-year operating plans.

Understand market share dynamics and supplier inputs to create leading industry operating plans.

Coordinate category assessment programs across the Matrix Team to align efforts and ensure strategic goals are met.
Drive and Enable Profitable Growth of the Category

Conduct analysis and track management accounts to ensure category performance aligns with targets.

Take accountability for the oversight and management of KPIs to maximize sales, profitability, and market share at the product group level.

Deploy tactical strategies to manage monthly performance against KPIs for each product group.

Monitor the financial performance of the business/department and identify any implications for business outcomes.
Lead, Mentor, and Support the Matrix Team

Manage and coordinate effective team engagements to foster alignment with strategic objectives.

Inspire a culture of momentum within the team, driving the rhythm and pace of category execution.

Communicate effectively, considering diverse viewpoints, to make informed decisions.

Address potential issues by having difficult conversations, ensuring business standards and values are upheld.
Manage Stakeholder Relationships

Build and maintain mutually beneficial stakeholder relationships, ensuring execution of the strategy.

Support the team in negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Facilitate collaboration with a cross-functional supplier base and other stakeholders to chart a path to success.

Manage various stakeholders to execute and deliver business projects and initiatives effectively.

Ensure the timely gathering and consolidation of pertinent information from various stakeholders.

Develop clear supplier strategies with defined objectives and transformation plans.

Identify suppliers aligned with business values and capable of fulfilling current gaps in the category.
Minimum Requirements

Relevant formal qualification (degree or diploma).
-
Required buying experience in category management.
-
A minimum of 8 years of experience in Category Management, preferably in the FMCG industry.
-
Experience in liquor (Wine, Spirits, Beers & RTDs) and adjacent categories is advantageous.

3-5 years of experience managing a team or leading people.

Ability to interpret data into actionable recommendations for driving top-line and bottom-line growth.

Strong communication skills to articulate complex concepts in clear, simple terms, and create compelling presentations.

Proven stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence internal and external partners across various levels.

Strong resilience and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Exceptional problem-solving ability and a strong solution orientation.

Highly entrepreneurial with a passion for the liquor category.

Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization tools (e.g., QlikSense or QlikView).
