Dischem Vacancies – Casual Merchandiser

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser for our Bedford Square store. As a Casual Merchandiser, you will ensure that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained. Your role includes restocking merchandise, maintaining store displays, and providing excellent customer service.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Up to 6 months of retail experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
  • Willing and able to work retail hours
• Advantageous:
  • At least 1 year of retail experience

Job Responsibilities:

• Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales.
• Ensure delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom is stored and packed in the correct place promptly.
• Ensure the stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date and that the full range of products is on display.
• Facilitate stock rotation on a regular “First In, First Out” (FIFO) basis.
• Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
• Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layouts, and planograms.
• Maintain front shop shelves and ensure products are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.
• Ensure merchandising displays are built, faced up, stocked, and maintained.
• Help with loading and off-loading stock and ensure all items are clearly marked.
• Assist with back shopping and the training of new staff.
• Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance to customers.
• Handle customer stock queries and follow up on out-of-stock items with the customer service team.
• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.

Competencies:

• Essential:
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Presentable and effective in engaging with customers, management, and staff
  • Trustworthy and honest
  • Strong time management skills
• Advantageous:
  • Bilingual proficiency
  • Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry
  • Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for stock ordering and stocktaking

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Able and physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
• Reliable transport or reside in close proximity to the store.
• South African citizenship.
• Clear credit and criminal records.
