DisChem Vacancies – Casual Cashiers

Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for Casual Cashiers to join our Noordhoek store team. As a Casual Cashier, you will support customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a world-class shopping experience. You will accurately record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering to company policies and procedures while minimizing inaccuracies and fraud risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: Provide exceptional service to customers in line with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures, maintaining a professional relationship at all times.
• Transaction Processing: Accurately process all purchases, including cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other forms of payment accepted by Dis-Chem.
• Cash Management: Ensure secure handling of cash, maintain cash flow, and follow all Dis-Chem SOPs for cash placement in drop safes.
• Sales Awareness: Stay informed about current sales, promotions, and loyalty programs, assisting customers with their queries.
• Security Compliance: Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies, reporting any suspicious behavior to management and ensuring that all outgoing stock/items are scanned and paid for.
• Stock Exchanges & Returns: Handle merchandise exchanges and returns according to company policies, ensuring proper authorization.
• Accuracy & Accountability: Maintain a high level of accuracy in all transactions, ensuring that your code and password usage is secure and personal.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in MS Office.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Basic customer service skills.
  • Willingness to work retail hours.
• Advantageous:
  • Proficiency in a third additional language.

Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers.
• Familiarity with processing sales, refunds, and various payments.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions.
• Presentable and socially aware with strong emotional intelligence.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and time management skills.
• Trustworthy and honest, with a high level of accountability.

Special Conditions of Employment:

• Willing and able to work retail hours.
• Must have reliable transport or reside in close proximity to the store.
• Must be a South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records.
