Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated Cashier to join our team at Food Lovers Market. As a Cashier, your role is essential in ensuring that customers have a positive shopping experience by processing transactions accurately and efficiently. You will handle cash, debit, and credit transactions, and provide exceptional customer service. Reporting directly to the Till Supervisor, you will work across trading and non-trading hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate an electronic point-of-sale (POS) system with an attached scale.
- Accurately ring up all products and ensure the correct amount of change is given.
- Maintain balanced cash-ups and ensure all payment methods are accurately processed.
- Keep the till area clean, hygienic, and well-organized at all times.
- Deliver excellent customer service with a positive and friendly attitude.
- Have thorough knowledge of products, prices, and product codes.
- Stay informed about promotions, advertisements, and sales.
- Communicate effectively and manage time efficiently, especially during peak hours.
- Assist in maintaining a smooth checkout process during busy periods.
Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Experience working as a Cashier.
- Proficiency in English.
- Must reside within 15 km of the store location.
- Clear criminal record.
Preferences:
- South African citizens.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a cashier in a retail environment.
