Job Description:
Food Lovers Market is seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team. As a Cashier, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers have a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience. You will handle transactions, manage payments, and ensure accuracy in all sales. Your attention to detail, excellent math skills, and customer service will be key to your success in this role. This position reports to the Till Supervisor, and you will be required to work different shifts across both trading and non-trading hours, including Sundays and Public Holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Cashier, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Operating an electronic point of sale (POS) system, including a scale for weighing products
- Accurately ringing up all products and providing the correct amount of change to customers
- Managing payment methods (cash, debit, credit cards) and ensuring accurate cash-ups
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic till area at all times
- Providing exceptional customer service with a friendly and positive attitude
- Keeping up-to-date knowledge of products, product codes, and promotions on sale
- Staying aware of ongoing promotions and advertisements to assist customers effectively
- Communicating effectively with customers and team members
- Managing time efficiently and working quickly, especially during busy periods
Requirements:
To be considered for the Cashier position, you must meet the following criteria:
- Matric certificate
- Proficiency in English
- Reside within 15 km of the job location
- Clear criminal record
- South African candidates only
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a Cashier
