Spar Vacancies – Cashier

The Cashier is responsible for processing customer purchases accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service. This role ensures smooth transactions at the point of sale and maintains store standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate front-end equipment, including point-of-sale terminals, debit card machines, and other payment processing systems
  • Process various payment methods, including cash, cheques, gift vouchers, bank cards, and pensioner’s cards
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure proper cash handling procedures
  • Assist with stock management at checkout points
  • Uphold hygiene, safety, and housekeeping standards in the front-end area
  • Ensure correct signage and pricing at checkout
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and address customer inquiries professionally

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / NQF Level 4 equivalent
  • Previous experience as a cashier, either part-time or as a trainee
  • Strong numerical and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment
