Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and friendly Cashier to join our team at Food Lovers Market! As a Cashier, you will play a key role in ensuring our customers have a smooth and enjoyable shopping experience. You will be responsible for handling transactions, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area. This position reports directly to the Till Supervisor and requires flexibility, as you will need to work different shifts, including Sundays and Public Holidays.

Key Responsibilities
As a Cashier, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operating an electronic point of sale (POS) system with a scale attached
  • Accurately processing customer purchases and providing the correct change
  • Ensuring all payment methods are handled efficiently, including cash, debit cards, and credit cards
  • Maintaining a balanced cash register and performing cash-ups accurately
  • Keeping the checkout area clean, organized, and hygienic
  • Providing friendly and exceptional customer service, addressing customer queries and concerns
  • Staying up to date with product knowledge, promotions, and sales
  • Managing time effectively, particularly during busy periods
  • Maintaining awareness of product codes and prices
  • Reporting any issues with the POS system or register

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric (High School Diploma)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cashier
  • Clear criminal record
  • Proficiency in English
  • Reside within 25km of the job location
  • South African candidates only

Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

  • Previous experience using a cash register or computer-based POS system
  • Ability to accurately handle different payment methods (cash, debit, credit)
