Business Development Consultant – Rand Mutual

Job at a Glance
This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing Rand Mutual’s Broker Development strategy while growing its existing book of business. As a Business Development Consultant, you will drive RMA Life Group Risk sales and customer targets in alignment with our BOS Strategy. Your focus will be on ensuring sustainable revenue growth and profitability by maximizing market penetration.

What Will You Do?

  • Provide strategic direction for RMA Life’s Group Risk Business Development function.
  • Secure new business partners and expand opportunities within the existing client base.
  • Design, implement, and manage innovative business initiatives, from relationship development to retention.
  • Negotiate business agreements, including transaction and partnership deals.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and regulatory changes to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Conduct market research and attend industry events to build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strengthen long-term relationships with clients, intermediaries, and strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with Pricing and Product teams to deliver technical expertise to clients.
  • Work closely with Pricing, Administration, Disability Management, and Underwriting teams to ensure exceptional service.
  • Analyze customer and market data to support business decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing and customer strategies for RMA Life Group Risk.
  • Align sales efforts with broader RMA Life divisions to support company-wide goals.

What You’ll Bring to the Table?

  • 10-15 years of Employee Benefits experience, including at least 5 years in EB business development.
  • Business degree (advantageous).
  • RE5 certification (required).
  • NQF 5 in Wealth Management / Financial Planning or 120 FAIS credits (required).
  • Proven ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
  • Outstanding sales and business development skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
