Transnet Vacancies – Business Case Writer
We are seeking a skilled Business Case Writer to develop business cases of small to medium complexity and contribute to complex business cases in alignment with corporate objectives. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in financial analysis, business acumen, and the ability to rationalize data into meaningful information for decision-making.
Key Responsibilities As a Business Case Writer, your role involves:
- Developing Business Cases: Craft business cases for capital investments of small to medium complexity, ensuring alignment with corporate plans and strategic objectives.
- Data Analysis and Rationalization: Source relevant data, perform analysis, and convert it into information that supports complex business cases.
- Conducting Research: Undertake research to inform business cases, review financial models, and define benefits realization measures.
- Preparing Status Reports: Compile monthly reports on the progress of business case development activities.
- Supervisory Support: Provide guidance and supervisory support to Young Professionals in Training during their business case development phase, ensuring compliance with their training plans.
- Support for Ad Hoc Projects: Assist the business case development team with strategic projects for Capital Projects, Operations, Technical, and other divisions as required.
Qualifications and Experience Candidates for this role should have:
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or B-Tech in Engineering, Built Science, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in business case development or a related environment.
- A valid Code 08 driver’s license.
Competencies To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Knowledge: Broad business acumen, budgeting and financial analysis skills, knowledge of capital projects, and familiarity with relevant legislation (PFMA, NCA, Companies Act, Ports Act, Built Environment regulations). Understanding risk assessment and risk management frameworks is also required.
- Skills: High ethical standards, computer literacy (MS Office, SAP), excellent written and verbal communication skills, planning and organization, strong interpersonal skills, time management, and report writing.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain relationships, manage time effectively, and work collaboratively with various teams.
