SAB Vacancies – BUSA Inventory Manager

SAB is seeking a BUSA Inventory Manager to oversee the management of supply chain overheads and impairment across South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, and Swaziland. This role is responsible for ensuring effective control and management of the Business Unit (BU) inventory, including finished products, raw materials, and empties. The BUSA Inventory Manager will lead financial reporting, KPIs, and projects to optimize inventory management.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Inventory Management and Control
    • Oversee the BU’s supply chain losses, impairment, and inventory management.
    • Develop and implement action plans to mitigate supply chain overheads and impairment.
    • Manage slow and obsolete stock, tracking and reporting on inventory levels, and implementing gap closure and write-off mitigation plans.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Establish strong relationships with Zone and global teams to ensure best practices are adopted in the BU.
    • Provide high-level reporting and presentations to directors and VPs on inventory losses and supply chain overheads.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, including logistics, inventory, and procurement teams.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
    • Formulate budgets for supply chain overheads and impairment, with monthly tracking and monitoring.
    • Ensure monthly Long-Term Estimate (LE) accuracy and manage the process.
    • Deliver accurate inputs for medium to long-term inventory planning.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Coach and implement best practices for demand changes and inventory count procedures.
    • Identify and implement value-add (VA) initiatives to optimize inventory management.
    • Maintain high standards of data accuracy within the inventory reporting system(s).
  • Compliance and Governance
    • Ensure adherence to CSA standards within the BU.
    • Manage and monitor returnable assets (bottles, crates, kegs, pallets, and layer boards), with monthly feedback to the Zone on performance.
    • Plan and execute inventory count processes across all areas of the business.

Profile Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Post-Graduate degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Econometrics, Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics, Economics, or Accounting Science). An MBA is recommended.
  • At least 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or finance.
  • Experience in managing finished goods, raw materials, and returnable packaging.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, finance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the company.
  • Strong people management skills and the ability to influence and lead teams.

  • Based at SAB 65 Park Lane; travel within BUSA (South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, and Swaziland) as required.
