Job Description
Food Lovers Market is seeking a skilled Blockman to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for cutting meat products to meet quality standards according to production plans. Reporting directly to the Butchery Manager, you’ll be required to work various shifts, including trading and non-trading hours, Sundays, and Public Holidays.

What You’ll Do

  • Record the quantity of meat received and issued, and keep accurate records of meat sales.
  • Perform precise and cost-effective cutting of various meat species, utilizing advanced deboning and cutting techniques.
  • Process and manufacture a variety of meat products, including sausages and mince.
  • Operate a bandsaw and other specialized butchery equipment with proficiency.
  • Maintain cold chain principles and ensure ideal temperatures for storing meat products.
  • Comply with food safety regulations and meat legislation.
  • Conduct block tests to determine costs and manage production planning to maintain stock levels of unprocessed stock and retail cuts.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic work area and ensure equipment is kept clean and in good working condition.
  • Assist in managing waste and shrinkage in accordance with the budget.
  • Participate in weekly stock takes in the butchery.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers to improve workflow.
  • Stay informed about promotions, advertisements, and current butchery trends and innovations.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, a collaborative work approach, and adaptability to new techniques and processes.
  • Maintain high energy levels and work effectively under pressure.
