Pick n Pay is looking for a skilled Blockman to join the team. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting weekly and monthly deadlines. Reliability, accountability, and initiative are essential.
Key responsibilities include preparing, manufacturing, and wrapping products according to specifications and targets. Ensuring accurate pricing of random weight and loose-selling items, checking labels, and conducting regular quality checks to rotate stock and remove expired or damaged products are critical tasks. Preventing wastage, shrinkage, and damages is a priority.
Maintaining hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working standards is essential. Security procedures must be followed, and all equipment must be operated and cleaned according to company standards. Monitoring temperatures and maintaining the cold chain is required.
Providing excellent customer service by advising customers, handling requests, and processing orders efficiently is part of the role. Promoting products and monitoring budgets, including expenses and turnover, is expected.
This position involves working with raw meat, operating potentially dangerous equipment, and being exposed to temperature variances, including cold storage areas. Effective communication with employees, management, customers, and suppliers is necessary for success in this role.
