Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Blockman to join our team at Food Lovers Market. As a Blockman, you will be responsible for cutting meat products to meet our quality standards and production plans. This role reports directly to the Butchery Manager and requires flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

What You’ll Do

• Record the quantity of meat received and issued to cooks, and keep detailed records of meat sales.
• Perform precise and cost-effective cutting of various meat species using advanced deboning and cutting techniques.
• Process and manufacture a variety of meat products, including sausages and minces.
• Operate bandsaws and other specialized butchery equipment with proficiency.
• Ensure adherence to cold chain principles and maintain ideal temperatures for storing meat products.
• Comply with food safety standards and meat legislation.
• Conduct block tests to determine costs and assist in production planning to maintain stock levels.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic work area and ensure equipment remains in good working condition.
• Manage waste and shrinkages in the department within budget constraints.
• Assist with weekly stock takes in the butchery.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, leveraging strong communication and time management skills to enhance workflow.
• Stay informed about current butchery trends and innovations and maintain awareness of promotions and advertisements.
• Exhibit a trainable mindset and adaptability to new techniques and processes.
• Maintain high energy levels and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Requirements

• Matric Certificate
• Proven experience as a Blockman
• Reside within 20km of the job location
• Clear criminal record
