Sasol careers – Artisan/ Senior Artisan : Electro Mechanic

Purpose of Job:
To enhance production efficiency by providing expert electro-mechanical equipment maintenance and reliability. You will ensure adherence to procedures and codes while leveraging all available resources to maintain and improve the stability and sustainability of the plant, mine, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Expertise:
  Demonstrate proven competence in the specified areas of the plant/mine/equipment/systems.
• Maintenance Systems:
  Understand and effectively use the plant maintenance documentation system and planning work management system.
• Process Knowledge:
  Apply relevant plant/mine specific or basic process knowledge as defined per discipline.
• Safety Compliance:
  Adhere to Safety Management Systems (e.g., IMS, MBO) and apply emergency procedures.
• Risk Assessment:
  Read, interpret, and implement task risk assessments. Identify hazards and participate in hazard identification and task risk assessments.
• Daily Operations:
  Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss work assignments and support business goals by meeting deadlines.
• Communication & Feedback:
  Provide feedback to supervisors on work progress and participate in root cause analyses (RCA), offering insights to improve processes.
• Safety & Housekeeping:
  Engage in risk assessments according to legislation and company requirements, maintain good housekeeping practices, and adhere to waste disposal procedures.
• Mentorship & Development:
  Share knowledge with junior artisans, participate in quarterly performance appraisals, identify personal training needs, and lead by example. Assist in the development of work instructions and contribute to team efforts.
• Leadership:
  Take the lead in team tasks, act as a group leader when appropriate, and mentor learners/artisans informally.
• Maintenance Strategy:
  Contribute to the overall maintenance strategy, conduct physical inspections (My IMS) to improve plant sustainability, and provide feedback on progress.
• Toolbox Talks:
  Provide input at toolbox talks to enhance plant safety.

Formal Education:

• Relevant technical qualifications in electro-mechanical disciplines.

Experience:

• 2+ years of relevant experience in electro-mechanical maintenance.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proven competence in maintenance systems and procedures.
• Strong understanding of safety management and risk assessment.
• Effective communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to work well within a team and lead by example.
