Agro Transformation Lead – Isando Plant Snacks
PepsiCo is looking for an experienced Agro Transformation Lead to drive the Positive Agriculture agenda at the Isando Plant Snacks division. This role is responsible for developing and implementing crop development strategies, focusing on wheat and maize. The position involves leading agricultural transformation initiatives, fostering strategic partnerships, and ensuring sustainable agricultural practices within the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a direct crop supply plan for South Africa, emphasizing wheat and maize.
- Lead variety-specific supply strategies to enhance resilience, reduce costs, and improve milling extraction rates.
- Oversee emerging farmer development by creating scalable partnerships and leveraging development funds to achieve transformation targets.
- Scale up the existing Regenerative Agriculture (Regen-Ag) program to achieve sustainable outcomes on 1.1 million acres by 2030.
- Establish a coalition of supply chain partners, including farmers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders, to drive sustainable agricultural initiatives.
- Lead the digital transformation agenda to support key strategic initiatives.
- Serve as the primary liaison between PepsiCo teams, external partners, and stakeholders to implement Positive Agriculture initiatives.
- Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting to track progress and provide insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop business cases to encourage investment in sustainable agricultural programs.
- Represent PepsiCo in national forums and industry discussions on agricultural sustainability.
Qualifications:
- 10-15 years of experience in agricultural development, agribusiness, or international development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business Management, or a related field.
- Strong background in maize and wheat supply chains, with direct private sector experience preferred.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to generate actionable insights.
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans (written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently with a high level of autonomy.
- Experience in agronomy leadership and working with Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) companies is an advantage.
