Shoprite Vacancies – Accountant

Shoprite is looking for a skilled Accountant to manage financial processes, ensure compliance, and support business operations with accurate financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports while ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Monitor and reconcile inventory records through regular audits to maintain accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payments, and collections, ensuring timely and accurate transaction processing.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring store budgets, analyzing financial performance, and providing forecasts to support business planning.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies while coordinating with auditors and addressing recommendations.
  • Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings, providing actionable insights to store management.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation of all transactions and reports.
  • Collaborate with store management and other departments to address financial issues and communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and auditors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (essential).

Experience

  • Three to five years of experience in a financial or management accounting role, preferably in a retail or distribution center environment.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of VAT and tax legislation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, with intermediate Excel skills for creating spreadsheets using formulas.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinker with critical problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
