Job Overview

Pick n Pay is seeking a dynamic Local Store Manager to lead store operations, drive sales, and deliver exceptional customer service. The role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Deliver customer service that consistently exceeds expectations

  • Implement and maintain KPAs and KPIs to measure store performance and Local 7 Wonders success

  • Monitor, measure, and address non-conformance with timely action plans

  • Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, food safety, and employee health and safety compliance

  • Ensure adherence to store SOPs and transform them into daily routines for all team members

  • Implement and maintain display and merchandising standards, ensuring all products are correctly ticketed and priced

  • Manage stock levels and minimise out-of-stock situations within defined timeframes

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and motivate staff to achieve store goals and deliver quality products and services

  • Drive on-the-job training to develop team skills aligned with Local standards

  • Build a positive team culture that encourages collaboration and accountability

Sales & Commercial Performance

  • Drive sales through effective product displays and focus on advertised lines

  • Analyse reports from Support and Regional offices to take appropriate action

  • Maintain financial and numerical oversight, ensuring accurate reporting and auditing

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure all compliance requirements are consistently met, including internal policies, procedures, and labour regulations

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and safety across the store

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12

  • 5 years retail experience

  • 3 years store management experience

  • 3 years general management experience

  • Intermediate computer skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to drive results and achieve targets
