Job Description

FlySafair is seeking a dedicated Junior Aviation Technician (Mechanical) to support line maintenance activities and ensure aircraft safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform line maintenance inspections in accordance with approved maintenance programmes.

• Carry out routine inspections on aircraft mechanical systems and identify defects.

• Conduct fault finding and rectify defects in line with approved procedures.

• Perform A-checks, including weekly service inspections.

• Complete detailed daily aircraft inspections to identify potential issues affecting airworthiness.

• Execute maintenance tasks to ensure aircraft remain serviceable and compliant.

• Adhere strictly to approved maintenance procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Accurately record and certify all maintenance activities in compliance with FlySafair and SACAA requirements.

• Comply with all health and safety requirements to prevent accidents, incidents, and fire hazards.

• Ensure work areas, tooling, and equipment are safe, serviceable, and properly maintained before commencing work.

• Apply analytical and troubleshooting skills to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.

• Communicate clearly and professionally to support efficient workflow and timely task completion.

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).

• Mechanical Trade Test Certificate (Essential).

• Minimum of 2 years’ aviation maintenance experience (Essential).

• Experience on B737-800 mechanical systems (Advantageous).

• Experience on B737-8 (MAX) mechanical systems (Advantageous).

• Previous line maintenance experience (Advantageous).

• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

• Availability to travel at short notice, locally and internationally.

• Valid South African passport.

• Sound understanding of aircraft technical publications and maintenance documentation.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
